Julia Dreosti is a Principal of law firm, Lipman Karas. She is an experienced commercial litigator and arbitration practitioner who has represented clients in commercial disputes involving a range of industries, including energy & resources, infrastructure, construction, defence, government, financial services and corporates. Many of her cases involve disputes in multiple jurisdictions, and her approach to these disputes is enhanced by her experiences working in Asia and Europe. She advises clients on risk minimization/management and dispute avoidance strategies in the context of joint ventures, shareholder matters, cross-border acquisitions and major infrastructure and procurement projects.
Julia’s work also includes counselling clients on compliance and dealing with regulatory authorities in the context of corruption, insider-trading and other investigations. She has experience acting both for and against company directors in proceedings, including an action representing court appointed liquidators in investigations and litigation in Guernsey and the United States over the collapse of a US$22 billion hedge fund. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and sits on the management committee of a pro bono legal organisation.
Julia is also Vice-President (Events) of the SA Chapter of FACCI, is one of the Australian representatives to the ICC Commission on Arbitration & ADR headquartered in Paris, and holds a Masters in French Law and European Community Law from Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne.
